The Importance of Fasting:

Fasting in Ramadan is an obligatory act for every healthy Muslim and one of the key pillars of Islam. It teaches us to refrain from eating, drinking, and intimacy while focusing on becoming better for the sake of Allah (SWT).

This holy, blessed month is a special time to reflect on our faith and recite du’as sincerely. Every duaa by a fasting person is accepted, and each good deed is multiplied by 70. It’s a powerful time to grow spiritually and strengthen oneself.

The Virtue of Fasting in Islam

The Prophet ﷺ beautifully highlighted the reward of fasting by saying:

“Whoever fasts one day for the sake of Allah, Allah will place between him and the Hellfire a trench equal to the distance between the sky and the earth.”

This hadith shows how even a single day of fasting, done sincerely for the sake of Allah (SWT), carries immense reward and protection. It reminds Muslims of the spiritual power and significance of this holy act, especially in the blessed month of Ramadan, when each good deed is multiplied.

Fasting in Shaban

Shaban is the month where Allah (SWT) raises the deeds of His servants, making it a spiritually rich time for worship. The Prophet (PBUH) frequently fasted during Sha’ban, more than in any month other than Ramadan.

 As Aisha (RA) narrated:

“I never saw the Messenger of Allah fasting for an entire month except in Ramadan, and I never saw him fast more than he did in Sha’ban.”
